An only child
a mix of Indian and Korean parentage
Oh how exotic.
He joined Singapore Idol
To see how far he can take it.
He is known to none,
Till now.
He left his home and mummys arms.
And went on his own
And solitary way
And he gave to us, people in Singapore
A gift I felt, is more than singing alone.
A handsome man of charm
Denied a final place
He tried to be the Singapore Idol
But his substance was not ready yet.
However, he earned his love and respect
Through his fighting spirit and drive.
A smile so sweet and genuine
And dance steps so cute and like a monkey.
His eyes a means of capturing souls
Took the hearts of his fans; young and old.
I hope he is not tired
I hope that his eyes still continue to glow.
I hope he does not give up
This morning your departure still runs through
My mind
And his song is in my soul,
Oh he really make an attempt
To be the best that he can. He really wanted this.
His life on the screen will never be the same again.
Therefore I write this tribute
To a young 18 year old boy named Joakim
I thank you for your music
And the happiness that it brings along
I thank you for displaying such graciousness
When it came your time to go.
You thanked the fans for their kind and supporting words
During the times when it really got tough for you
And Joakim, I dont think I can
Salute you near enough.
Go and pursue your dream
Let this be a stepping stone.
And if you still find that singing is your call
Go and build up your voice.
In order to live out your dreams
I really hope to see you do this again.
And I hope to see you on TV soon.
But most of all, I really hope to see you before I die.
